The first edition of Rastell's law dictionary precedes inpoint of time the publication of the first general Englishdictionary, and it the most important English dictionarybefore Cowell's controversial Interpreter (1607). Hickspraised its value and described it as useful for itsinsights into the state of the common law at the close ofthe year-book period. This early edition is especiallysignificant because it was printed by Richard Totell(fl. 1553-1594). Totell was an important London printer whoowned the patent for many common law books.Reprinted by The Lawbook Exchange, Ltd.Distributed by William S. Hein & Co., Inc.
