DISASTER PREPAREDNESS MANUAL
Item #: 3571
2020 Revision by Travis Spence.
This manual is presented as an example of one library's emergency planning in the hope that it may help other libraries with their own response plans. It covers both emergency and salvage procedures. Emergency procedures deal with immediate responses to be taken in the event of disaster (specific situations are arranged alphabetically by the nature of the emergency) and focus on the safety of people in the library. Salvage operations include procedures to follow in recovering from a disaster and concern the care of library materials. Supplementary sections cover suggested equipment and supplies necessary for dealing with emergency situations and additional resource information.
This revision not only addresses changes in organization and procedures but also deals with types of disasters, such as active shooters and data security incidents, that were not well-covered by the procedures described in previous editions.
