City of Akron v. Akron Center for Reproductive Health
Edited and compiled by: Roy M. Mersky and Kumar Percy Jayasuriya
This 3-volume set is devoted to the Supreme Court’s decision in the case of the City of Akron v. Akron Center for Reproductive Health. In this decision, the Court found that the city’s abortion ordinances, including required parental consent for minors, informed consult for adults, and a 24-hour waiting period, to be unconstitutional. The Court believed these provisions “unjustifiably placed a significant obstacle in the path of a woman seeking an abortion,” and also constituted an attempt to persuade against an abortion. This compilation contains all briefs submitted to the Supreme Court, the transcripts of the Supreme Court oral argument, the lower court opinions and the final decision of the Court. It provides researchers and students alike with documents and information concerning this highly influential case in the controversial topic of abortion rights.
