This volume is the 7th installment of the series, A Documentary History of the Legal Aspects of Abortion in the U.S. and is devoted to the Supreme Court's decisiion in the City of Akron v. Akron Center for Reproductive Health. In this decision, the Court reviewed the constitutionality of the city's abortion ordinance, overturning several provisions including those that required parental consent for minors, informed consent for adults, and a 24-hour waiting period. More than 34 years have passed since the Supreme Court first held in Roe v. Wade that women have a constitutional right to abortion. Yet the question is still a topic of heated debate and there has been an ongoing call to revisit past abortion decision. This compilation by Percy Jayasuriya and the Tarlton Law Library is intended as a learning tool as well as a historical record.
